We are very fortunate to enlist The Hill for Literacy to grow our reading and writing toolboxes this year. We work alongside an implementation specialist to grow our skills and strategies each month. The district elementary level staff also participates in a graduate course called Science of Reading every other month. These incredible professional development opportunities are funded through an early literacy DESE grant that the district was awarded last spring. #WeAreDR
Vacation is over, but we are still having fun! 🤩 #WeAreDR
Sending along a quick reminder to our preschool families:
The PRES Preschool is closed this week (2/26 to 3/1) for purposes of screening incoming students for the 2024-2025 school year. We will see our preschool students back at PRES on Monday, March 4th! Enjoy your week!
❤️Happy 💌 Valentine's 💌 Day from PRES!❤️ #WeAreDR 💚💛
Our Kindergarten students loved celebrating the 100th day of school! They celebrated by setting a goal of collecting 100 canned goods for the Rehoboth Food Pantry. They crushed their goal! Great job being Globally Minded and Community Engaged! #PoG #WeAreDR
Congratulations to a fantastic role model, Raymond. He collected and donated 10 bags of food for the Rehoboth Food Pantry to help food insecure individuals in our town. He did this in an effort to "stop world hunger" and can't wait for his next collection. His story was published in this month's Rehoboth Reporter. Great job, Raymond! You exemplify our Portrait of a Graduate by being Globally Minded and Community Engaged! We're very proud of you! #WeAreDR
Given the forecasted snowfall, the Dighton Rehoboth School District will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13. No school-based activities will be held either. Stay safe! We are DR!
Here are the winning numbers for this week. Please check your child's Golden Ticket to see if they are a winner. All winning tickets should be brought to your child's teacher. Thank you!

Earlier this week, Superintendent Runey stopped by PRES to award our entire kindergarten with the #WeAreDR Community Service Belt to acknowledge their compassion and service to our community! In December, the kindergarten students and staff held a very successful toy drive that benefitted families in need from Dighton and Rehoboth. Thank you to our families who donated and supported bringing our district’s “Portrait of a 🧑🎓 Graduate” to life. #proudprincipal
Second graders were treated to a fantastic enrichment experience yesterday-All About K-9 Edo! Special thanks to our community partners Rehoboth Police Department, Officer Dave Aguiar, and of course, everyone’s favorite ❤️ K-9 Edo! If you have a second grader, ask them what they learned today-you’ll be amazed! #WeAreDR👮 🚔👮♂️🚓

Attention DR Alumni & Community Members,
If you recall, the Dighton-Rehoboth District started the Strategic Planning process last year by developing the Portrait of a Graduate (POG). I am very pleased to share that the next phase of our Strategic Planning initiative is on schedule for a proposal to be made to School Committee in late May/early June. Both our Strategic Planning Committee and our DLT have christened this process “DRiving Toward 2030.”
I want to salute all who have been collaborative in this process since the Portrait of a Graduate kicked off in the fall of 2022. Now, I am asking everyone else to consider participating. We are adding a few more subcommittee members who are alumni or live in our two towns.
We are now at the stage of assembling subcommittees to build out the five foundational elements of the “DRiving Toward 2030” plan.
Participating is optional; and in my opinion, it’s not a heavy lift. We are probably looking at a maximum of three evening meetings over a 4-month period.
If you are willing to serve on a subcommittee, please take 2-3 minutes prior to January 9 at Noon to complete this Google Form. We will be creating subcommittees for each of the 5 focus areas (see below) and would like to know your top 3 subcommittee preferences.
Please be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm for our next in-person DRiving Toward 2030 meeting.
DRiving Toward 2030 Subcommittees
- Funding and Facilities (Resources) - Sustainable fiscal health, facilities, and resources
- Safe & Healthy Learning Environment - Cultures that welcome learning and school environments where each scholar thrives
- Curriculum, Instruction, & Learning Outcomes - High-quality curriculum and instruction that results in future-ready learning outcomes
- Community Engagement - Enhanced school and community connections and family engagement
- Expanded Learning Opportunities - Learning opportunities both in school and community
Thank you!
Together, we are DR!
